GIMP in itself is a powerful, open-source alternative to Photoshop or any other photo editor. But why stop there? Improve your GIMP with plugins, brushes and scripts. Expand the capabilities of GIMP and customize it according to your specifications. Add what you need in editing photos or making digital arts. (You can only remove what you added!!)
Search and download plugins from Plug-in Registry on GIMP’s website. After downloading, extract (if needed) and copy to the folder for the plug-ins. For Windows version, you can find it at Documents and Settings/*profile*/.gimp-2.4/plugins or C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins. For Linux version, I’m sorry I haven’t tried it yet.
Restart GIMP if you have already it opened.
Enjoy your new plug-ins.
Download your favorite brushes. Try brusheezy.com, vecteezy.com for a couple of brushes. Extract it(if needed) and copy to Brushes folder. For Windows version, you can find it at Documents and Settings/*your profile*/.gimp-2.4/brushes or C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\brushes.
Restart GIMP and enjoy your new brushes.
For Photoshop brushes (.abr), no need for you to convert to .gbr, just copy it to the folder and your good to go!!
Download your chosen scripts and copy to scripts folder of GIMP. You can find it at Documents and Settings/*your profile*/.gimp-2.4/scripts or C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts for the Windows version.
Restart GIMP and enjoy.
I will post soon on how we can use eps (Photoshop) file for The GIMP.
Enjoy and Happy Gimping!
