Save PNG the easy and fast way

I have blogged about Guillotine for easy slicing for your web templates. Others may also use the Slice script. I also googled for other options to save sliced images for our templates. I’ve found a “slice-save” script (by Arun Ravindran) and the “save for web” script almost similar to what can be found on Photoshop’s.

Add Photoshop and GIMP brushes

Phew, I’m back. Yeah, I know it’s been quite a while. But anyways..

I’ve seen a lot of question going around on how to add additional brushes to The GIMP. Not only can we add GIMP brushes but we can also utilize those wonderful brushes made for Photoshop. Nice!

Okay, on to the post of the day, adding brushes to GIMP. Well, there are several ways on adding brushes. These are, adding to your personal folder and to the program files folder.

Poor GIMP Development

Since the release of 2.6 series, development of The GIMP has been poor these days. The first release of the series, version 2.6, was good news to every GIMP user.

New features are definitely indispensable when using GIMP. Though there were minor bugs but are negligible and are most likely to happen.

GIMP Graphics Competition

Hello fellow GIMPers.

As I was searching for a community for GIMP users or “GIMP nation” as I googled it, I can across this website (well, actually a group) where they are promoting GIMP Graphics Competition.

GIMP 2.6.4

It has been a long time since I was online. My goodness, what a vacation! More like vacation meaning work.

Anyway, as you all are aware of, The Gimp 2.6.4 has been released some time ago (January 1).  I just had the opportunity to upgrade today.

The new version had some bug fixes. Below are the fixes for 2.6.4.

Selections, Resizing Selections and Moving Selections

Note: This post is for the newbies starting on learning GIMP.  Note that I am using GIMP 2.6 and any reference hereto are applicable to the said and later versions.

Selections? What are those?

Well, some refer to them as “Marching Ants”. Basically, these are portions in your canvas, if you will, that you can perform specific actions or it defines an area where an action is constrained to.

There are lots of ways in creating a selection on GIMP. We have the Rectangular Select Tool, Ellipse Select Tool, Free Select Tool and etc.

GIMP in itself is a powerful, open-source alternative to Photoshop or any other photo editor. But why stop there? Improve your GIMP with plugins, brushes and scripts. Expand the capabilities of GIMP and customize it according to your specifications. Add what you need in editing photos or making digital arts. (You can only remove what you added!!)
